Server Issues...

Wow..   That is all that I can say.. The blog has been down, and my server had a mini-meltdown!

I have purchased a new box to replace this server.  I got a really good deal from MicroCenter on a PC that did not have Windows installed on it.  I wish I could run this server on a non-Microsoft technology, because the Ubuntu Linux that is installed on this box looks REAL cool, not to mention that it loads quite QUICKLY....

Anyway, I hope that the new box is online in the next week or so and I have no more blog issues...

Soccer Week 1...

Ok, so this past week Coach Troy has been drilling the girls mostly on running, running and running.  We are making sure that at the end of the game they are still fresh, and the other teams are struggling to walk. :)

Well, Coach Troy is not able to make it tongiht, and I'm 3 hours away in the north land this morning working.  I am attempting to setup a practice from scratch.. I'm not too sure how structured this practice is going to be, but it should be fun. We should be practicing with the two boys teams that we have in this age group, so we will have a lot of fun, and a couple of coaches as well.

Anyway.. The weather has been GREAT for all of out practices so far, and I hope it continues.  I'm starting to get into shape as well.. Which really suprises me!  But I'll have to see if it continues!

I'll update later this week on this saga...

Soccer? Football?? Soccer???

Ok, so I'm a little over 24 hours away from starting a new chapter in my life...  I'm awaiting the call out of my new nickname...  COACH...

After a couple of years of my daughter playing organised soccer, I agreed to help coach her soccer team...  Luckily for me, there IS another coach. Troy says that he doesn't have much soccer experience, I just hope he knows conditioning better than I. I'm still not too sure how I would do as the only coach of the team.. I feel as though I'm very lucky to have him around this year..

This morning I was watching the olympic soccer team on TV, and now I am wondering what did I get myself into..  Thoughts of dills and conditioning come into my mind, and frankly I hope the girls fitness level is MUCH better than mine, as I have really been feeling like an old man recently. I think it has to do with my programming profession.  I believe that I became the programmer that I am due to my LAZY factor.  Making the machines in my life do things that I really don't want to..  Mr. Robot; please fetch my beer....

But I think this will be a fun season for all of us this year.  I'm hoping that the girls have a TON of fun, and make some new friendships as well. Not to mention the reward that I hope to have at the end of the season by hearing the girls talk to the other teams in the area about how much fun they had with BOTH of their coaches!

Las Vegas here I come!

I recieved word from Redmond Media Group that my session entitled “Real World ASP.Net MVC in one hour!” was accepted and I will be giving the session in October in Las Vegas. Right now I'm doing Snoopy's happy dance!!!!

I will be starting with the basis of the new MVC framework that Microsoft is working on, and continuing through the building of a Real World application during the talk.  I'm hoping this session will give the audience a good understanding of a good use for the upcoming framework, and can then return to their careers with some good ideas to implement to make their lives easier in the long run...

For all of you .Net programmers; please talk to your companies and attempt to join us in Las Vegas this year! Remember if you register before September 10th you can save some $$ for your company...  Hope to see you all there!
