How much do YOU love your dog???

After this weekend I keep asking myself this same question.. I have an adoring Golden Retriever who is suffering from Epilepsy.. The vet was waiting to see what to do about it at this point.  He has been having about one ceasure about every 2 weeks.. Well this weekend he had 2!!  That's not normal for him.. It could be that he's stressed due to the trip up to the northland, or it could just be that he is getting worse.

At this point I'm really not too sure who's worse off here, him for having a brain reset; so to speak; or me for having to watch and not able to help. I mean I NEVER thought I'd be THAT animal person.. But I really care for his well being. For the last 15 months I've been working closely with him.  Actually what I mean, is that I have been working from home.. So he has tried everyday to help.. By licking the screen and the occasional nudge when I'm trying to think of what to do next.. He's mostly a perfect companion; other than the shedding....

Anyway.. I'm hoping that the doctor and I can get him some kind of drug to make him stop this, and feel better.. But we will see... :

A few years back my dog Simon suddenly developed seizures and we spent weeks working with the vet trying to get the right meds to keep them under control. Eventually learned he had a tumor that was causing the seizures. Once it was clear that there was nothing that could be done for him we had to have him put down. I AM NOT suggesting you do that. Epilepsy can be controlled with the right meds. What I do suggest is that you do whatever you can to help your dog get through this. I know that having a sick dog can sometimes be a burden, but I think they deserve just as much love and devotion as they give. Has the vet mentioned Phenobarbital? That’s what helped Simon initially.
